USA Basketball today announced former Reno Bighorns (currently Stockton Kings) guards David Stockton and Aaron Harrison were of the 14 players selected to participate in the USA World Cup Qualifying Team training camp June 20-26 in Houston. The training camp will be used to select the 12-man team for the USA’s World Cup Qualifying third-window games including Mexico on June 28 in Mexico City and Cuba on July 1 in Havana.

Stockton most recently joined the Utah Jazz in early April after being signed to the remainder of the season. During his stint with Utah, Stockton averaged 3.3 points (.667 FG%, .667 3pt%) and 3.1 minutes of action in three games. Prior to his call-up, he appeared in 39 games (15 starts), averaging 16.3 points, 5.2 assists, 3.2 rebounds and 1.8 steals in 28.2 minutes per game for the Bighorns during the 2017-18 season. He was also selected to the official 12-member 2017 USA Men’s World Qualifying Team, where he saw action in two wins against Cuba and Puerto Rico, owning averages of 8.5 points, 3.5 assists, 2.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals in 18.4 minutes per game.

During the 2017-18 season, Harrison averaged 18.7 points, 4.4 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 26.9 minutes in 41 games while shooting .437 from the floor, .425 from behind-the-arc and .839 from the foul line with the Bighorns. At the end of March, the Dallas Mavericks signed Harrison to a 10-day contract where he posted averages of 6.7 points (.275 FG%, .209 3pt%, .765 FT) 2.7 rebounds, and 1.2 assists in nine contests. In mid-January, Aaron earned second-team honors at the 2018 NBA G League Showcase with averages of 21.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 4.0 assists at the four-day event.

Jeff Van Gundy, who led the USA to a 5-0 record and the gold medal at the 2017 FIBA AmeriCup and has led the USA to a 4-0 record in the first two windows of the World Cup Qualifiers, returns as head coach. NBA G League Erie Bayhawks head coach Josh Longstaff and former Georgetown University coach John Thompson III will serve as USA assistant coaches.

The full roster is expected to be announced prior to the team’s departure for Mexico on June 26. The player selections are made by the USA Basketball Men’s World Cup Qualifying Team Committee.
