Colby Jones 40-Piece Leads Kings to Sail Past Capitanes, 130-102

-- Mason Jones Hits First Triple-Double of the Season for Kings--

The Stockton Kings, the NBA G League affiliate of the Sacramento Kings (16-9), defeated the Mexico City Capitanes (12-12), 130-102, on Thursday afternoon at Golden 1 Center.  

Kings guard Jordan Ford dropped the first bucket of the game to get the team on the board early. The Kings shot 73.3% from the field, establishing a 14-point cushion to take a 36-22 lead by the end of the first quarter. Forward Jalen Slawson led with 10-points and forward Deonte Burton came off the bench to pour in three consecutive shots to put eight on the board. The Capitanes were on a mission to close the gap in the second frame, opening with a 6-0 run to bring the game 36-28. Mexico City forward Phillip Wheeler and guard Iverson Molinar came off the bench to combine for 17 in the frame. Molinar finished the half with a solo 6-0 run with 1:06 left to trail the Kings 57-59. The Kings extended their lead in the third quarter 92-78, while Mexico City went 8-for-22 from the field. The fourth quarter saw the Kings take their biggest lead with 3:28 left at 124-91. Forward Colby Jones contributed 17 points and guard Mason Jones drained a bucket to nab the Kings first triple-double of the season with 9:15 left in the period. Poor shooting and turnovers ultimately sank the ship of the Capitanes to the tune of 130-102. 

Jones led the game with 43 points, five rebounds, seven assists, four steals and a block, setting a career high in points and threes made (8). Slawson capped the day with 17 points, two rebounds, one assist, one steal, and a block. Forward-Guard Stanley Johnson contributed 15 points, three rebounds, four assists, and one steal. M. Jones registered a stat line of 10 points, 12 rebounds, 10 assists, and one steal. Center Skal Labissiere finished with 10 points, five rebounds, three assists, one steal, and three blocks. 

Capitanes forward Ethan Thompson led Mexico City with 17 points, two rebounds, three assists, three steals, and two blocks. Forward Juan Toscano-Anderson followed up with 14 points, three rebounds, one assist, and a steal. Guard Louis King punched in 13 points and added five rebounds, three assists, and two steals. 

The Stockton Kings will see the Mexico City Capitanes for the second time at Adventist Health Arena on Friday, March 8 at 7:00 PM PST.
