Get to Know Wesley Iwundu

After getting drafted in the second round, in the NBA, Wesley Iwundu has demonstrated his skill set across multiple teams in the NBA.

Though he has been competing at the highest level over the past five years, Iwundu has displayed an adequate amount of consistency and perseverance throughout his basketball career.

Stockton fans, meet your newest Guard/Foward, Wesley Iwundu.

Born and raised in Houston, TX, Iwundu attended Spring Westfield High School. He would then go on to commit to the Kansas State and would go on to start 123 of 132 games as a Wildcat He was named third-team All-Big 12 Conference in both his junior and senior year. During his senior season, Iwundu averaged 13.0 points, 6.3 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game. As his college career ended, Iwundu was invited to the 2017 NBA Draft Combine.

Iwundu would then spend the next three years playing for the team that drafted him, the Orlando Magic. In his third year (2019-20 season), Iwundu averaged 5.8 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.2 assists. He then signed with the Dallas Mavericks and over the 23 games he played before getting traded, he averaged 2.1 points and 1.9 rebounds.

The Houston native would then go on to play for the New Orleans Pelicans, the Atlanta Hawks, and the Cleveland Charge.

Iwundu has proven his versatility when it comes to the offensive end of the floor and despite suffering a season-ending injury in early January 2022, the 27-year-old guard has shown resilience and perseverance as he makes his comeback to the floor.

The former Kansas State Wildcat may have found the perfect opportunity to do so as a new member of the Stockton Kings.
