Oklahoma City Blue Use Strong Second Half To Defeat Stockton Kings

The Stockton Kings (2-1), of the NBA G League, were defeated by the Oklahoma City Blue (1-2), 118-100 at the Stockton Arena.

Both teams played a competitive, back-and-forth first half. Oklahoma City used a 7-0 run in the second quarter to extend their lead to 44-36, their biggest lead of the half. Stockton stormed back with their own 7-0 run, bringing the score to 44-43. Kings guard Matt Coleman III led Stockton in the half with 16 points while shooting .700 percent from the field. Kings’ forward Tre‘Shawn Thurman also had a strong first half scoring 14 points, grabbing five rebounds and shooting .500 percent from the field. Oklahoma City forward Melvin Frazier led the Blue with 12 points as Stockton entered the break trailing 60-55.

Oklahoma City started the third quarter strong on a 12-0 run, extending their lead to 79-62 midway through the quarter. The Blue remained in control through the half, taking its biggest lead during the fourth quarter at 22 points.

Kings forward Damien Jefferson finished as Stockton’s leading scorer with 20 points off the bench on 9-of-14 shooting from the field, along with seven rebounds. Thurman scored 18 points, shooting 6-of-13 from the field while grabbing nine rebounds. Both Coleman III and Kings forward Louis King contributed 17 points apiece. The Kings shot .402 percent from the field, .206 percent from three, and .722 percent from the free-throw line.

Oklahoma City was led in scoring by center Jaylen Hoard with 25 points, nine rebounds, and three assists. The Blue shot .537 percent from the field, .424 percent from three, and .818 percent from the free-throw line.
