Stockton Kings defeat Birmingham Squadron In First G League Regular Season Game

The Stockton Kings (1-0), of the NBA G League, defeated the Birmingham Squadron (0-1), 103-80, in the first game of the NBA G League regular season.

The Kings started the first half strong, leading by as many as 14 points with center Neemias Queta scoring eight points, grabbing four rebounds and shooting .667 percent from the field. Stockton ended the half with a 46-38 lead. Birmingham guard Riley LaChance led the first half with 14 points, three rebounds and shot .556 percent from the field.

Birmingham brought the game within as little as three points in the 3rd quarter, but Stockton ultimately emerged victorious with their biggest lead of 19 in the 4th quarter.

Queta and Kings forward Tre‘Shawn Thurman both finished as the leading scorer with 21 points apiece. Queta finished the game 12 rebounds and shooting .692 percent from the field. Thurman shot 8-of-12 from the field, 4-of-7 from three and grabbed 11 rebounds. Kings assignment forward Robert Woodard II collected a double, scoring 16 points to go along with 10 rebounds. The Kings finished the game shooting .482 percent from the field and .800 percent from the free throw line.

Birmingham was led by guard Tra Holder with 15 points, seven rebounds and two assists. Birmingham finished the game shooting .388 percent from the field, .182 percent from three and .545 percent from the free throw line.
