Stockton Kings Fall To The South Bay Lakers, 120-105

The Stockton Kings, the NBA G League affiliate of the Sacramento Kings (2-3), fell to the South Bay Lakers (2-3), 120-105 on Tuesday night at Adventist Health Arena.

The Stockton Kings started the game on an 11-4 run and quickly gained a 12-point lead. An 18-5 run by the Lakers led to a one-point South Bay lead at the end of the first quarter, 30-31. In the second quarter Kings guard Jaylen Nowell and center Jake Stephens led the way for the Kings with six points each. With the game tied at 50 and 3:46 remaining in the second quarter the Lakers went on a 12-2 run to take a 10-point lead at halftime, 62-52. Stockton finished the first half shooting 85.7% from the free-throw line and forced 14 South Bay turnovers, converting into 14 points.

Stockton Kings guard Jeremy Lamb led all scorers in the third quarter with 10 points and added six boards. Stockton trailed by 15 points with 4:32 to play in the third quarter, their largest deficit of the game. Following a three-pointer by Stockton Kings guard Kalob Ledoux in the fourth quarter, the Kings went on a 19-7 run cutting the South Bay lead to one point (100-99). However, the Kings were never able to retake the lead and fell to the Lakers 120-105. 

The Kings were led in scoring by Jaylen Nowell who finished with 22 points (9-18 FG, 50.0 %), three assists, seven rebounds and six steals. Nowell earns his first 20-plus point outing this season. Stockton Kings guard James Akinjo recorded 20 points with a game high five assists and four steals in 37 minutes of play. Kings forward Jeremy Lamb contributed 20 points, a game-high 12 rebounds and two blocks. 

South Bay Lakers guard Colin Castleton recorded 25 points (9-12 FG, 75.0%), 11 rebounds, and three assists. Forward Maxwell Lewis recorded 21 points and guard Louis King scored 16 points and had three rebounds.

The Stockton Kings will host the Ontario Clippers at Adventist Health Arena on Friday, November 24 at 7:00 PM PST.
