Stockton Kings Hold Off Cleveland Charge In Final NBA G League Winter Showcase Game

The Stockton Kings (7-6), of the NBA G League, defeated the Cleveland Charge (6-7), 108-104, in the final game of the G League Winter Showcase at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center.

The Kings were down by as many as 10 points in the first half following a strong effort by Cleveland forward Justin James who led the way with 16 points, shooting 6-of-11 from the field and Malik Newman adding 13 points. Stockton stormed back to end the first half leading 51-49 supported by Kings forward Emanuel Terry who contributed 13 points and two rebounds.

Stockton traded leads with Cleveland throughout the second half but ultimately emerged victorious. All five Kings starters finished the game with points in the double figures. Kings guard Matt Coleman III finished as the leading scorer with 24 points, including six free throws made in the final minute of the game and nine assists.

The Kings finished the game shooting .447 percent from the field and .923 percent from the free-throw line.

Cleveland was led by James with 28 points, three rebounds, and two assists. Cleveland finished the game shooting .422 percent from the field, .333 percent from three, and .667 percent from the free-throw line.

The Stockton Kings will start the regular season on December 28 by traveling to Des Moines to take on the Iowa Wolves at the Wells Fargo Arena at 5:00 PM PT. Fans can tune in to the game on ESPN+.
