Stockton Kings Stomp Indiana Mad Ants, 125-113

The Stockton Kings, the NBA G League affiliate of the Sacramento Kings (11-6), defeated the Indiana Mad Ants (11-7), 125-113 on Friday night at Adventist Health Arena (formerly Stockton Arena). 

Stockton Kings forward Jalen Slawson led the team with 30 points (64.7% FG), three rebounds, two assists, two steals and two blocks. Guard Jeremy Lamb came off the bench to drop 21 points, eight rebounds, five assists and three steals. Seven of nine players scored in the double digits, including guard Dane Goodwin who finished with 15 points, six rebounds, one assist, two steals, and a block in his first home start of the regular season. 

Indiana Mad Ants guard Kyle Mangas paced the team with 30 points, three assists, and one steal. Forward Jarace Walker followed up with 23 points, seven rebounds, five assists, and one steal. Guard Isaiah Wong punched in a stat line of 22 points, three assists, and two steals. 

The Stockton Kings got off to a slow start as the Indiana Mad Ants took an early lead in the first frame. Mangas made the first score of the quarter putting them up 2-0. The Kings were able to tie up the game with 5:38 left in the frame, providing the catalyst to a six-point run that gave them the edge for the remainder of the first quarter. Lamb’s layup with one second left in the frame left the Mad Ants in an 11-point deficit. Slawson’s back-to-back dunks, both assisted by Lamb, at the end of the first half helped put the Kings in the lead 62-52. 

The second half saw Stockton take the biggest lead of the night at 23 points. They shot 66.7% from the field, going 26-for 39. They capitalized off Indiana’s turnovers to the tune of 24 points. In the last frame, the Kings’ 10-point run was highlighted by Slawson’s three-point play. With a little over three minutes left, Slawson knocked the ball away from Mad Ants forward Jarace Walker, grabbing the loose ball, lobbing it in for two and making good on the free throw. Forward Deonte Burton followed up with a three, then center Skal Labissiere and Slawson notched two consecutive dunks. Mad Ants guard Isaiah Wong snapped the run, sinking two free throws, but Burton’s dunk with 21 seconds left sealed the game.

The Stockton Kings will meet the Oklahoma City Blue for the second time this season at Adventist Health Arena (formerly Stockton Arena) on Saturday, February 10 at 5:00 PM PST.
