Stockton Kings Take First Of Back-To-Back Games Against Austin Spurs With 101-96 Victory

The Stockton Kings (13-13), of the NBA G League, defeated the Austin Spurs (13-13), 101-96 at Stockton Arena on Saturday night.

The first half was a competitive battle with the biggest lead belonging to the Kings, 38-31, during the second quarter. Kings two-way center Neemias Queta led the first half with 14 points on 6-of-7 shooting and added six rebounds. Kings forward Emanuel Terry had a strong first half off the bench with 12 points and six rebounds. Kings starting guard Quinn Cook recorded nine points, four rebounds, and four assists at the halfway point. Spurs forward DJ Stewart led his team in scoring with twelve points and added four rebounds. Stockton entered the break leading 49-46 while shooting .438 percent from the field.

In the second half, teams were trading baskets back-and-forth and the end of the game came down to the last few possessions. Clutch free throws sealed the deal for the Kings victory. Austin finished shooting .418 percent from the field, .323 percent from three and shot .688 percent from the free throw line. Stewart led his team in scoring with 21 points, added two assists and eight rebounds.

Cook led the Kings and all scorers with 29 points, added five rebounds and five assists. Queta finished with 18 points and starting guard Matt Coleman III finished with 14 points (all in second half), two rebounds and five assists. As a team, the Kings shot .442 percent from the field and a perfect 15-of-15 from the free throw line.
